Can the machines be “fixed”?

Tribal gaming agencies test machines to ensure their integrity. Gaming (slot) machines are totally computer controlled for random selection and programmed for minimum/maximum odds and payouts. The programmed chips which control these machines are tested and certified by an independent lab to ensure compliance with regulated odds and required payout percentages. These chips are again tested and verified by the State prior to the machine going into play in a casino. The chip is secured in place with tamper proof evidence tape on the control board. The control board is then locked in a separate compartment in the machine, the only keys to which are in the possession of the tribal gaming agencies. The gaming machines are then randomIy checked, tested and reverified by the tribal gaming agencies or the State on a routine basis.
